Lambert Ranked Fourth For Montana’s Top Players
Kayla Lambert, former standout player for Brockton, was ranked fourth by 406mtsports.com as Montana’s greatest high school girls’ basketball players.
406mtsports compiled a list of the state’s top 50 greatest girls to celebrate 50 years of girls basketball in Montana.
Regarding Lambert, the article noted, “A scoring machine unlike any other in Montana history, Lambert finished her career in Brockton with 3,453 points from 1998-2001 – nearly 1,000 more than the runner-up. She still holds the state record with 66 points in a game, and also scored 65 twice. Lambert once had a quadruple-double with 51 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals. She was the first Native American to be invited to the Nike All-American Camp and was recruited by several Big Ten schools before picking Montana. Academically ineligible, Lambert transferred to Sheridan (Wyoming) College and later tried to jump-start her college career in Canada. She was inducted into the Montana Indian Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.”
The top three players selected were Karen Deden of Missoula Sentinel as number one, Shannon Cate (Schweyen) of Billings Central as number two and Cass Bauer (Bilodeau) of Hysham as third.
Sidney’s Deb Prevost was ranked fifth in the series.
