The Culbertson Town Council held their regular meeting Monday, Jan. 10, at 6:30 p.m.

The council approved results from their recent audit. There was only one exception noted stipulating that more in-house office employees would be preferred. The latter exception is common in small towns with few personnel.

During old business, the council heard from DeAnne Weeks with the Culbertson Women’s Club, who pleaded for assistance with the municipal pool bathhouse project.

Council members aired concerns about rising costs and shifting funding sources. Jeremy Fadness with WWC Engineering said the best option moving forward is for the town to apply for grant funding through the state Land and Water Conservation Fund.

“LWCF is the best option for federal and state resources for recreation projects,” said Fadness.

During the public comment period, Crowder asked for input on speed signs currently in planning stages for all four highway entrances to town. There was also talk of relocating the 25 MPH sign near the high school further west toward the edge of town.

Minutes were approved for the Dec. 13 meetings. Financials and claims for December were approved, including treasurer reports, general journal vouchers, utility billing vouchers and December bills.

Another ordinance review workshop was held following the meeting. The next regular council meeting is set for Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
