Culbertson Drops Games To Plentywood

Culbertson dropped both basketball contests against Plentywood on Saturday, Jan. 8.

The Cowboys fell by a 5241 against Plentywood.

Culbertson took a 13-11 lead in the first quarter, but Plentywood moved ahead 30-23 in the second period.

The Wildcats increased their advantage to 40-30 in the third quarter.

Leading the Cowboys were Colin Avance with 15 and Payton Perkins with 12 points.

Also scoring for Culbertson were Maurice Bighorn with eight, Dawson Bergum with two, Mark Kirkaldie with two and Bridger Salvevold with two.

Top scorers for Plentywood were Reese Wirtz with 15 and Cayden Trupe with 14 points.

In the girls’ game, Plentywood earned a 52-14 victory. Both teams entered the contest with undefeated league records.

The game was deadlocked at 5-5 after the first quarter, but the Wildcats held the Cowgirls to two points in the second period for a 24-7 halftime margin.

Plentywood led 33-10 after three quarters of play.

Megan Granbois scored six points for the Cowgirls. Also scoring were Makena Hauge with three, Destiny Thompson with three and Autumn Bergum with two.

Top scorers for the Wildcats were Annie Kaul with 11, Liv Wangerin with 10 and Mallory Tommerup with 10 points.
