Culbertson Speech And Drama Preps For Divisional Meet

The Culbertson High School Speech and Drama team is preparing for divisional competition Jan. 22 in Plentywood.

Finishing out the season are seniors Morgan Lucas in memorized public address; Eric Chilson, informative; and Zach Miller, MPA; and juniors Trevor Green, informative; Mo Bighorn, MPA; and Joseph McCarty, humorous interp.

All six of these competitors have earned team sweepstakes points consistently throughout the season.

“As a team,” said CHS coach Jeri Gustafson, “we have brought home three first-place honors, three second place and one third-place finish.”

Jan. 22 will find the team in Plentywood at the Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament. They will be vying for one of the top six places in their events so they can qualify to compete at the state BC tournament at Huntley Project High School Jan. 28-29.

Saturday, Jan. 15, found schools from the Eastern B/C Speech and Drama Division traveling to Fairview for their first invitational tournament in quite a few years.

“It was a great day of competition as teams ready themselves for the upcoming divisional tournament,” said Gustafson.

In Fairview, Miller earned second in MPA. Chilson took fourth in informative. Green took first in informative. Bighorn placed eighth in MPA and McCarty competed in humorous interpretation.

“Class C speech sweepstakes was a tight race to the end,” said Gustafson, with our Culbertson team placing second, one point behind Plentywood.”
