Dale, Harada Commended For Heroic Efforts
Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice officer David Dale and Wolf Point Police Chief Jeff Harada have each received letters of recognition for their recent heroic efforts.
On Dec. 21, 2021, at 1:15 p.m., Harada, Wolf Point Police Sgt. Enrique Morales, Dale and Fort Peck Tribal Police officer Christopher Greybear responded to the area of the Sixth Avenue train crossing after a report of a 911 call.
Morales and Greybear were able to locate but unable to reach an injured juvenile female who was lying on the tracks on the opposite side of a stopped train. Harada and Dale drove to the south side of the train tracks to rescue the girl. They were assisted by Wolf Point High School employee Corey Reum.
“Chief Harada, officer Dale and Reum without regard for their own safety climbed onto the train tracks and carried the female to a safe location, narrowly escaping the path of an oncoming train,” the letter reads. “Chief Harada, Officer Dale and Reum’s quick thinking and selfless actions led to the juvenile female being moved to a safe location without loss of life or injury.”
The letter notes, “The Wolf Point Police Department would like to recognize Office Dale for going above and beyond the call of duty in a situation which could have resulted in a loss of life or serious injury. Officer Dale is an example to law enforcement and the dedication and commitment to service required of all men and women serving in this honorable profession.”
