Lady Wolves Win Game In Sidney

The Wolf Point girls’ basketball squad broke away to down Sidney, 69-58, on the road on Thursday, Jan. 28.

The Wolves trailed 18-15 after the first quarter. Sidney’s last lead was 26-25 midway into the second quarter.

Wolf Point accounted for nine of the last 11 points of the half for a 34-28 lead. J’Elle Garfield tallied five of the points.

Ahead 34-30 early in the third quarter, the Wolves’ Hamyanie Campbell struck for eight quick points including one basket off a steal from Garfield.

Wolf Point took further control midway into the third quarter when a free throw by Haidyn Raining Bird and consecutive three-point plays by Katelyn MacDonald produced a 51-36 advantage.

Five points by Campbell later in the quarter increased the margin to 57-43 at the end of the period.

A 16-footer by Josie Kolstad, a basket on an inbounds play by Garfield and a free throw by Jaylee Azure put the margin at 65-47 en route to the 11-point non-conference victory.

Top scorers for the Wolves were Campbell with 19, Garfield with 14 and Raining Bird with 10 points.

Also scoring were Kolstad with seven, Hamilton with six, McDonald with six, Azure with four and KJ St. Marks with three.
