Headdress Wins Ice Fishing Contest Headdress Wins Ice Fishing Contest

The Poplar River Ice Fishing Contest was held Saturday, Feb. 5, southwest of Poplar.

According to organizer Doug Marottek, Roger Headdress won first place with the biggest fish caught in tourney history, a 11.6-pound pike. The prize for first place was $2,000.

Second place went to Freedom Crawford, who won $1,000 with a 3.10-pound pike. Jeff Vine placed third, winning $500 with a 3.8-pound pike.

A fundraiser drawing of firearms was held. Winners included Noah Strauser, Tommy Atkinson, Davy Atkinson, Dustin Kluth and Jestin Dupree. Door prizes were offered.
