Poplar Drops Games In Fairview
The Poplar Indians dropped an exciting 66-63 overtime contest in Fairview during boys’ basketball action on Friday, Feb. 4.
Fairview led 20-12 at the end of the first quarter and 31-27 at the half.
Down by a 38-31 margin entering the fourth quarter, the Indians exploded for 27 points in the fourth quarter for a 58-58 deadlock.
Fairview outscored Poplar by an 8-5 margin in the overtime period.
Top scorers for Poplar were Delray Lilley with 21, Malcom Yellow Hammer with 14 and Geordy Medicine Cloud with 11 points.
Also scoring were Dennis Red Eagle with seven, Kaniel Ricker with five, Preston Ogle with four and Allen Russell with one.
Leading Fairview were Hunter Sharbono with 29, Kanyon Taylor with 17 and Jeff Tjelde with nine points.
In the girls’ game, Fairview won by a 60-50 final.
Fairview outscored the Indians by a 20-10 margin in the third quarter to take a 49-36 lead.
Morgen Nordwick scored 27 points for the Indians.
Also scoring for Poplar were Rikki Belton with six, Gracelyn Medicine Cloud with six, Kessee Erickson with four, Mattie Fallsdown with three, Jazmyn Carrywater with one and Emma Rae Martell with one.
Fairview’s top scorers were Macy Tjelde with 21, Megan Asbeck with 12 and Emily Johnson with 12 points.
