Porras Keeps Busy Schedule In Senior Year

Katrina Porras doesn’t start her day like most Wolf Point High School seniors, but she has learned a lot during her early morning hours.
Prior to coming to school at 11 a.m., Porras works at Agland East. She has been working at the business as mainly a cashier for nearly two years.
“I do a little bit of everything,” Porras said of her duties.
She said she enjoys her coworkers and customers.
Through visiting with some customers, she has determined that she wants to become a truck driver.
“I find it fascinating, getting to be on the road all the time,” Porras said of being a truck driver.
After high school, her goal is to earn her CDL.
She noted that her grandfather and uncle have truck driving experience. She hopes to drive a Peterbilt truck.
At the school, she explained that she was involved in some activities until COVID hit. She then decided to opt-out of in-person classes. Prior to that, she ran for the cross country team for one season.
“I stay pretty much as a quiet person,” Porras said. “I try to get good grades.”
Her favorite class is woodworking. Her projects have included wood burns of boxes and a chest.
“It’s a peaceful environment. You get to make what you want,” she explained.
Her favorite teacher is R.C. Page. “He’s more of a relaxed one,” Porras noted She said she’s glad that she grew up in the Wolf Point community and lived close to family members.
