City In Process Of Hiring New Police Chief
The City of Wolf Point has started the process of hiring a new police chief.
Police chief Jeff Harada’s “official” final day is March 2, although he unofficially retired on Feb. 2. He has served as Wolf Point’s chief of police since 2003.
Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak said a committee has been working on the hiring process.
“The committee is meeting currently to go over the job description and looking at advertising,” Dschaak said.
He added that the committee will be in contact with the police commission.
“Hopefully, it will be a thorough and extensive search,” Dschaak said.
Dschaak said both local and outof- area candidates will be considered for the position.
At this time, there is no specific deadline to hire a new chief. Once an advertisement is released, there will be a deadline for applications.
In other city news, Dschaak said the city is getting ready for the demolishing of apartments on Custer Street. A grant is making it possible to build a single family home at the location.
The city is also preparing to accept bids for the $4 million sewer upgrade project.
