JOM Plans Project For High School Seniors

The Wolf Point JOM committee is introducing a new benefit to Wolf Point High School seniors.

During the meeting on Monday, Feb. 7, committee member Rain Turcotte introduced the idea of having JOM help seniors, who are in need of assistance, with expenses and work for ribbon skirts and beaded caps for graduation.

The plan is for JOM to provide surveys for seniors early this week in order to measure their response.

JOM is planning to show the film, “Crooked Arrows,” at Northside school starting at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 23. The movie, popcorn and water will be provided. Students must be accompanied with a parent or guardian.

JOM officials were pleased with the recent career day held at Wolf Point High School. Tribal speakers included Stacie FourStar, Marty Reum, Stacey Summers, Lawrence Hamilton, Raul Figueroa and Donovan Archambeau. Next year, JOM might provide cultural food at the event.

The committee approved providing funds for Northside students to celebrate perfect attendance. Cost is about $125 a month.

School district clerk Cheri Nygard provided a recap of the JOM budget.

Preliminary funds spent for physical education shoes was a total of $18,600. The interest included 95 Southside students, 78 Northside students and 75 junior high/high school students.
