Poplar Drops League Contests in Malta
The Poplar Indians dropped both league basketball contests in Malta on Friday, Feb. 11. Malta’s boys earned an 85-41 victory.
Malta took a 25-11 advantage in the first quarter and held a 45-20 half-time lead.
Kaniel Ricker led Poplar with 15 points.
Also scoring for the Indians were Dennis Red Eagle with nine, Malcom Yellow Hammer with eight, Delray Lilley with seven and Allen Russell with two points.
Malta’s top scorers were Bohdi Brenden with 15, Rex Williamson with 11, Carson Ottinger with 11 and Jared Eggebrecht with 10.
In the girls’ game, Malta earned an 80-43 victory.
Malta jumped out to a 19-5 lead in the first quarter. Malta outscored Poplar by a 27-13 score in third quarter.
Rikki Belton scored 10 points for the Indians.
Also scoring for Poplar were Morgen Nordwick with seven, Mattie Fallsdown with six, Emma Rae Martel with six, Jazmyn Carrywater with four, Kassee Erickson with four, Gracelyn Medicine Cloud with four and Teagan Escarega with two points.
