Bainville’s Girls Lose Close Game To Savage

Bainville’s girls’ basketball team lost an exciting game against Savage, 47-46, during loser-out action at the District 2C tournament in Sidney on Friday, Feb. 18.

A pair of free throws by Kaitlyn Adkins put the Bulldogs ahead 43-42 with 1:39 remaining, but a three-pointer by Teah Conradsen gave Savage a 45-43 advantage with 35 seconds remaining.

After the Bulldogs missed a shot, Cambry Conradsen hit a free throw with nine seconds remaining. A free toss by Karley McPherson put the margin at 47-43 with only four seconds left.

Adkins fired in a three-pointer at the buzzer to cut the final margin to 46-46.

Top scorers for Bainville were Elsie Wilson with 12 and Adkins with 10 points. Also scoring were Hailey Berwick with nine, Lakyn Rabbe with eight, Kendra Romo with four, Brecklyn Pippenger with two and Tally Berwick with one.

Wilson finished with nine rebounds and had five steals.

Teah Conradsen led Savage with 19 points. Cambry Conradsen scored nine. Brooke Reuter and McPherson added seven points each.

The Bulldogs accounted for the last 10 points of the second quarter to gain a 28-21 half-time advantage. Kendra Romo scored four points during the stretch.

The Warriors put together a 9-0 run to take a 30-29 lead. Bainville’s Adkins made two free throws to end the third quarter at 31-30. Wilson scored on a drive to put the Bulldogs up 37-30 with 4:40 remaining, but Savage scored six of the next eight points.
