Border Crossing At Coutts Reopens

The U.S.-Canada border crossing at Coutts, Alberta, reopened Feb. 15 after protesters ended a two-week blockade. The crossing links to Sweet Grass, Mont.

The Ambassador Bridge, the busiest commercial crossing between the U.S. and Canada, reopened recently after police removed protesters. Normal operations resumed at the Pacific Highway border crossing in British Columbia Feb. 14, after police cleared a protest that had been causing serious disruptions.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared a national emergency in response to the protests taking place across the country over COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other public health measures. A senior official warned that the owners of trucks involved in protests would have their corporate accounts frozen and their insurance policies suspended.
