Bulldogs Defeat Savage In Tournament
Bainville’s boys’ basketball team gained the upper-hand in the second quarter and defeated Savage, 58-48, in loser- out action at the District 2C tournament on Friday, Feb. 18.
The Bulldogs trailed by a 10-6 margin entering the second quarter, but Bainville earned a 15-12 lead on two baskets by Charles Butikofer, a three-pointer from way out by Braeden Romo and a fastbreak basket by Samuel Butikofer.
The scoring of Charles Butikofer increased Bainville’s lead to 20-16. Ayden Knudsen then fired in a three-pointer for a 23-16 advantage.
Another three-pointer by Romo gave the Bulldogs a 26-18 half-time advantage.
Bainville outscored Savage by 16-15 margins in both the third and fourth quarters. The Bulldogs led by as many as 12 points in the final quarter.
C. Butikofer led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Scoring 12 points each were Romo, Jesse Strickland and Knudsen. Samuel Butikofer added six points.
Romo connected on four three-pointers in the victory. Having four assists each were Knudsen and Romo.
Caesn Erickson led Savage with 24 points. Sterling Thiel finished with 10 points.
