Calvin Bogar


Calvin James Bogar, 80, of Bloomfield died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings.
He was born July 29, 1941, in Glendive in the old Burlington Northern Hospital to Melvin H. Bogar and Susan Zora Davis Bogar of Vida, the eldest of five children. He grew up on the family farm at Vida where he attended elementary school and graduated from Circle High School in 1960.
He attended college in Bozeman for one year before going to barber school in Yakima, Wash., where he became a master barber. He was barbering in Sidney, where he met Joanne Sattler. They were married April 24, 1966. After barbering in Sidney, Wolf Point and Shelby, the newlyweds managed the Derrick Motel in Glendive for one summer before he realized his dream of being a farmer and bought the Ming farm in Bloomfield in 1967. During this time, he also served for the Army National Guard from 1965-1971.
They had four children: Doug, Beverly, Susan and Kristi. He loved farming and the Bloomfield community and getting to know his neighbors. He had a barber
