Lustre News

It was district tournament weekend, hosted at Wolf Point High School. The Lustre Christian High School team has had some firsts this year: first place in the basketball conference season, going into tournament with no losses. And it’s a team first having two sets of twins on the team: Alex and Bryan Chen and Kolden and Kaleb Hoversland.

Coach Randy Reddig has a very dedicated bunch of fellows, including Elijan Lenihan, Cayden Klatt, Gabe Alves, Clay Reddig, Braden Ewing, Byron Ewing, Jasiah Hambira, Nathan Fast, Mason Hilkemann, Diek Olfert, Vince Gonzales and Arun Ramnarace.

Lustre boys won 57-20 in the Feb. 17 game against North Country. They lost to Scobey 34-33 in a very defensive game Feb. 19, in the last 16 seconds of the game. It was akin to the heartbreaking loss of Wolf Point to Glasgow (53-52) in their Friday evening boys game Feb. 18.

I can nearly guarantee most homes had radios or televisions on, following the teams in whatever way they could if they were unable to attend in person.

The girls’ team consists of sisters Grace and Hannah Brown, Aubri Holtzritzer, Meridith Valentine, Abby Olfert, Jaden Gibson, Anna Teichroew, Sally Arai, Sarah Dahl, Mitchella Rosidar and Alexa Reddig (injured). They were coached by Bill Reddig.

The girls worked steadily in Wednesday’s 53-47 loss to Dodson. They lost to Nashua Friday 39-29 with five players in the scoring columns in each game. We noticed Aubri Holtzritzer made 11 out of 12 free throws in their game against Nashua. The team made 17 out of 24 at the free throw line and scored 26 points in the fourth quarter.

The boys’ team advances to the Eastern C Divisional Tournament in Sidney.

Work is coming soon in preparations for Schmeckfest.
