Wolf Point Opens With Loss At District 2B Tournament


Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball team lost the lead late in the second quarter and was defeated by Harlem, 73-54, in the first round of the District 2B tournament in Glasgow on Thursday, Feb. 17.
A three-pointer by Kraven Silk put the Wolves ahead by a 26-23 margin with 3:56 remaining in the first half. Harlem, however, accounted for the last 11 points of the half to grab a 35-26 lead. Four points by R.J. Ramone and a three-pointer by Daniel Lawrence highlighted the streak.
The Wildcats then struck for nine of the first 11 points of the third quarter to increase the margin to 44-28. Teagan LeValdo connected on a three-pointer to lead Harlem.
Four points by Jack Sprague and a three-point play by Juliun Benson helped the Wolves cut the gap to 48-36. Harlem, on the inside scoring of Lance Morgan, held a 58-40 margin at the end of the third quarter.
A three-pointer by Silk pulled Wolf Point to 62-45, but Harlem then scored the next six points.
Wolf Point’s top scorers were Benson with 13, Gaige Bushman with 11 and Silk with 10.
Also scoring for the Wolves were Corey Martell with seven, Sprague with four, Kelby Bauer with four and Ethan Blount with three.
Leading Harlem were Tyler Cichosz with 19 and Ramone with 16 points.
The scoring of Martell and a three-pointer by Bushman led the Wolves to a 13-10 advantage in the first quarter, but Harlem gained a 17-15 advantage at the end of the quarter.
