Red Hawks Fall Short To Scobey Girls

The Froid/Lake girls’ basketball squad was defeated by Scobey, 43-26, in loser-out play at the Eastern C divisional tournament in Sidney on Saturday, March 5.

The Red Hawks fell behind early as Scobey struck with a three-pointer by Abby Willis and two free throws by Whitley Maher for a 5-0 margin. Two free throws by Mara Salvevold put Froid/Lake on the scoreboard.

After three points by Dasani Nesbit, Scobey gained a 13-5 lead on a three-pointer by Karys Lamb.

Scobey ran off seven straight points during a stretch in the second quarter for a 22-7 lead. A drive by Nesbit cut the gap to 22-9 at the half.

The Spartans led by as much as 31-12 in the third quarter, but a three-pointer by Meg Ator at the buzzer closed the gap to 31-15.

The three-point shooting of Nesbit and Baylee Davidson helped the Red Hawks battle back to as close as 39-26 with 3:29 remaining.

Nesbit scored 12 points to lead the Red Hawks.

Also scoring were Salvevold with five, Ator with three, Davidson with three, Christoffersen with two and Brooklyn Nordwick with one point.

Nesbit finished with six rebounds.

Scobey’s top scorers were Lamb with 12, Willis with nine and Maher with eight points.
