Wolves Drop Game To Glasgow


Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball squad struggled in the second quarter and fell to Glasgow, 57-52, in loser-out action at the divisional tournament on Saturday, March 5.
Wolf Point trailed 13-8 late in the first quarter, but a free throw by Hamyanie Campbell and a three-pointer by KJ St. Marks helped trim the margin to 15-12 at the end of the quarter.
A short jumper by J’Elle Garfield pulled the Wolves to 15-14 at the start of the second period.
Glasgow then ran off 12 straight points.
Three-pointers by Garfield kept Wolf Point fairly close as the half ended with a 33-20 score.
Sierra Hamilton led the Wolves back early in the third quarter as Wolf Point struck for the first eight points to cut the gap to 33-28.
After a pair of free throws by Josie Kolstad resulted in a 37-31 margin, Glasgow scored the last four points of the quarter on an inside shot by Carly Nelson and two free throws by Daley Aune for a 41-31 advantage.
A short jumper by Kolstad and a three-pointer by Jaylee Azure helped keep the Wolves within reach early in the fourth quarter. Three points by Hamilton pulled the Wolves to 51-42 with 1:56 remaining.
A basket off a rebound by Kolstad closed the gap to 53-46 with 1:01 remaining. A drive by Hamilton pulled the Wolves to 55-49 with only 19 seconds left. Wolf Point’s final points came on a three-pointer by Kolstad at the buzzer.
Wolf Point’s top scorers were Kolstad with 15 and Hamilton with 13 points. Garfield finished with nine points. Also scoring were Azure, Campbell and St. Marks with five points each.
Leading Glasgow were Aune with 23, Sabrina Harsh with 15 and Tyann Graham with 10 points.
