Each of the three different Eastern Montana Gymnastics teams won a team award at the Rebel Roundup Gymnastics Meet at Minot, N.D., on March 5-6.

The gold team won first place out of six teams, the silver team won second place out of five teams, and the bronze team won third place out of six teams.

Gold gymnast Lina Smith of Richey and silver gymnast Ali Gibbs of Circle won special awards for their top allaround scores, out of their respective overall meets. Gold gymnast Kendra Linder of Glendive and silver gymnast Ashlynn Johannessen of Wolf Point had first-place all-around scores in their age groups.

Winning first-place event awards in their age groups were bronze gymnast Jud Rehbein of Richey, silver gymnasts Kynlee Houck of Glendive, Azzy Toavs of Wolf Point, Johannessen and Gibbs; and gold gymnasts Ava Hove of Circle; Linder and Smith.

Gibbs’ beam routine was the top silver beam routine, out of the 33 total gymnasts and scored a 9.3.

Smith also had the top beam routine of 9.4, out of the 34 gold gymnasts, while Hove was tied for the top floor routine at 9.4. Both the bronze and silver teams won the “Best Dressed” awards with their western clothing.

This was the Circle gym’s last regular season meet and will next compete at the Montana State Gymnastics Championships in several weeks in Bozeman.

The gold girls competed Saturday afternoon, March 12, and topped the second-place team from Grand Forks, N.D., by 1.2 points. Smith led her team with first places on beam, uneven bars and allaround and second places on vault and floor, out of the 12 gymnasts in the C age group. Linder and Aspen Boje of Glendive competed in the B age group of seven gymnasts.

Besides her first place allaround, Linder was in first place on vault and floor, tied for first on beam and third on bars. Boje was second on bars, third for her all-around and fourth on beam and floor. Ava Hove, Lily Beery, Justine Massar and Ella Beery, all of Circle, competed in the A age group of nine gymnasts. Besides Hove’s first on floor, she was second on bars and all-around, third on vault and fifth on balance beam. L. Beery added a third on beam, a tie for fourth on bars and fourth on all-around. Massar was third on bars and fifth on beam while E. Beery was fourth on floor and fifth on vault.

EMG’s bronze gymnasts competed Sunday morning and had their most improved meet and highest placing for the year. Mya Verschoot of Richey competed in the B age group of nine gymnasts and was second on floor, third on bars and all-around and fifth on beam. Rehbein, Brooklynn Boren of Circle and Gentry Rosaaen of Circle competed in the A age group of 10 gymnasts. Rehbein was tied for first on beam, second on floor, third for all-around and fifth on vault. Boren was third on beam and tied for third on vault, fourth for all-around and fifth for bars. Rosaaen added a fifth place on floor.

The silver gymnasts followed, with the EMG team of five girls. Gibbs, besides her first places for all-around and beam for the entire silver session, was first on bars, third on floor, and tied for third on vault, out of the six gymnasts in D age group.

Toavs competed in the same age group and, besides her tie for first on floor, was third for her all-around and bars and tied for third on vault.

Johannessen and Houck competed in the C age group, out of nine gymnasts, and went one and two for their all-around scores, bar scores and floor scores. Linder had the first-place bar routine and Johannessen was tied for first on vault. Emma Hove of Circle competed in the A age group of nine gymnasts and was tied for second on floor, tied for third on vault, fourth for her all-around and tied for fourth for beam.
