The future of Lustre Christian High School’s track program looks bright as the Lions are enjoying a strong turnout this season.

Lustre has 14 high school athletes and six junior high students out for the sport this year. The high school program features nine boys and five girls.

“It’s probably close to being the biggest team that we’ve had,” Lustre coach Lynn Unrau said.

The list of returning athletes is highlighted by Jasiah Hambira who won the Class C state championship by clearing 6-3 last season. He also qualified for the state meet in the 200, 400 and long jump.

The junior said his goal is to clear 6-6 in the high jump this season. “Aim high,” he said.

Other returning letterwinners include sophomore Cayden Klatt in distance runs, Sean Uy in throws and sprints, Arun Ramnarace in throwing events, Mason Hokemann in throwing events and Sarah Dahl in throws.
