Wolves To Begin Track Season In Glasgow

Wolf Point’s track squad will open its season at the Glasgow Invitational on Friday, April 1.
Other highlights of the season will include the Gene Nelson Memorial Invitational in Wolf Point on Friday, May 6.
The Wolves will compete at the district meet in Glasgow on Saturday, May 14. Both the divisional and state meets will take place in Great Falls.
After a standout track season last year, the Wolf Point Wolves look to keep the tradition going this campaign.
The Wolves have about 30 athletes out for the sport.
“It’s a good number to work with,” Wolf Point coach R.C. Page said.
Heading the group of returning athletes are Katelyn MacDonald and Peyton Summers who each placed at last year’s Class B state track meet. MacDonald earned fourth place in the javelin at state and Summers finished fifth in the 3200 and seventh in the 1600 at the state meet.
Distance runs should again be a strength for Wolf Point’s boys as Ethan Blount and Kholby SpottedWolf return after qualifying for state last year. Kelby Bauer is also out for the sport after competing in cross country last fall.
Mason Garfield should be one of the top competitors in the area for the shot put and discus. He placed sixth in the shot put at the divisional meet last year.
Other throwers back for Wolf Point’s boys’ team include Russell Turcotte, Shastin Damon and Ben Boysun.
Maddox Reum and Charlie Page each were solid runners for the boys last season and are expected to have strong years.
Junior Kraven Silk should benefit the Wolves in jumping events.
For the girls’ team, Josie Kolstad returns after competing in relays at the state meet last season. The senor will also compete in jumps and sprints.
Kylie Rodenberg, a sophomore, should lead the Wolves in hurdles, relays and jumps.
Haidyn Raining Bird in weights and Joli Beston in distance runs are counted on for strong contributions. Azalei Ackerman and Adeia Erickson will run relays and sprints for the Wolves.
Assistant coaches are Eric Peterson, Christina Moore and Andrea Sansaver.
