Residents Discuss Ideas For 100th Stampede
About 25 individuals attended a meeting organized by the Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture to discuss ideas for the 100th Wolf Point Stampede that will be celebrated on July 6-8, 2023.
Clint Long is doing research of having a commemorative buckle created in recognition of the 100th Stampede. The plan is to have 100 buckles made and be available for sale. Long mentioned maybe having an auction for numbers 1, 50 and 100.
Other ideas included having a car show, old-fashioned photos, day entertainment at the gazebo and a wagon train.
The plan is to have concerts on three nights, with two of them downtown and one at the Stampede grounds.
Having a pitchfork fondue dinner with entertainment was discussed. Holding the country showdown at that time was also mentioned. After the Spotted Bull Recovery Center hosted a successful Creator’s Game Family Fun Day at the Wadopana Grounds on the Thursday of Stampede this year, some people are hopeful that more Native activities such as dances and teepees could be added as part of next year’s Stampede.
The museum was mentioned as headquarters for visitors.
Individuals at the meeting stressed the importance of selecting a theme for the parade early so organizations can plan their floats.
The next meeting was scheduled for Monday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. at the Wolf Point Elks Event Center.
