Thomas Begins Principal Duties At Southside
The new principal for Southside Elementary School brings a wealth of educational experience to Wolf Point.
Tara Thomas is entering her 11th year as an administrator. She holds undergraduate degrees in history and English and a masters degree in education leadership.
Since 2006, Thomas has served as an administrator for John Hopkins’ gifted and talented program.
“It’s a wonderful summer program with the most brilliant kids in the world at a summer camp,” Thomas said. This year, she was in Princeton, N.J., from mid June to early August for the camp.
She is also a reader for the Gates Foundation Scholarship.
She has served as a superintendent in Scobey, Mandaree, N.D., and Warwick, N.D.
With the family ranch being in Alzada, Thomas is happy to be living in Montana again.
“It’s really nice to be back in Montana,” she said.
Thomas looks forward to a successful school year at Southside School.
“We’re going to work on social skills and how to interact with other humans in a good way,” Thomas said. “I’m really looking forward to meeting families and students. It looks like the teachers here are rock stars.”
