Runners Prepare For State Meet With Solid Showing In Plentywood
Kayli Olson of the Culbertson/ Bainville highlighted action by taking fifth place at the Plentywood cross country meet on Saturday, Oct. 15.
The senior finished with a time of 22:43.11. Plentywood’s Annie Kaul was the overall winner at 19:36.15.
Culbertson/Bainville’s Rebekah Ellerkamp placed 16th at 25:02.51.
Megan Granbois took 24th place at 26:55.96.
Jade Lone Bear placed 27th at 27:11.76.
“I was pleased with the placings,” Culbertson/Bainville Coach Dave Solem said of the Plentywood meet.
Culbertson /Bainville placed fifth as a team with 42 points. Poplar topped the standings with 17 points.
In the boys’ division, Maurice Bighorn led Culbertson/ Bainville with a time of 21:57.89 for 22nd place. Richey/Lambert’s Robin James finished first at 18:58.29.
Culbertson /Bainville’s Drae Nelson earned 23rd place at 21:59.89.
Dawson Bergum placed 28th at 22:14.17.
Trevor Green took 31st at 24:27.28. Angel Burciaga was right behind in 32nd at 24:27.31.
The Culbertson/Bainville boys took fifth with 60 points in the team standings.
Poplar was first with 18 points.
The state meet takes place in Missoula on Saturday, Oct. 22.
The girls will be at full strength at the state meet with volleyball players Destiny Thompson, Hailey Berwick and Elsie Wilson running.
Solem’s goal is for the girls to place in the top five of the team standings at the state meet.
