Froid/Lake Opens With Win Over Savage
The Froid/Lake volleyball team controlled the final two sets in its divisional tournament victory over Savage on Friday, Nov. 4.
The Red Hawks earned the win by a 25-11, 15-25, 25-12, 2511 margin.
Kills by Jaeleigh Davidson and Carolyne Christoffersen highlighted action as the Red Hawks gained a 14-7 advantage in the first set.
Ahead by a 20-9 margin, Froid/Lake added two more points on kills by Dasani Nesbit. After taking a 24-11 lead, the Red Hawks ended the set on a kill by Nesbit.
A block by Mara Salvevold kept the Red Hawks close at 13-10 in the second set, but Savage earned an 18-11 lead on kills by Teah Conradsen and Brooke Reuter. An ace by Karley McPherson and another kill by Reuter put the Warriors ahead 21-13.
Savage ended the second set on a kill by McPherson for a 25-15 margin.
The Red Hawks responded with a strong third set. After a 4-4 deadlock, Froid/Lake reeled off 10 straight points. Nesbit knocked down four kills during the streak. Baylee Davidson, J. Davidson and Salvevold added kills. Brooklynn Nordwick served an ace.
Froid/Lake increased the gap to 19-5 on two aces by Nesbit, a kill by J. Davidson and two kills by Salvevold.
Salvevold registered two more kills down the stretch in the 25-12 victory.
In the fourth set, the Red Hawks broke away from a 6-6 tie to take a 10-6 lead on two kills by J. Davidson and a block by B. Davidson.
B. Davidson accounted for two tips and an ace and Christoffersen hit a powerful attack for a 15-8 advantage.
The net play of Christoffersen and Nesbit gave the Red Hawks a comfortable 23-9 lead. Savage’s Reuter hit two kills, but Froid/Lake ended the match on a kill by Nesbit.
Nesbit finished the match with 12 kills, nine blocks, two aces and nine digs. Aleah Johnson had 10 digs and two assists.
B. Davidson accounted for 27 assists, five digs, an ace and a block. Christoffersen scored nine kills, four blocks and two aces.
Salvevold had five kills, two blocks, five digs and an ace. J. Davidson finished with five kills and a dig. Having two digs each were Nordwick and Alexa Nelson.
