Buckles Wins Special Election
Dana Buckles won a seat on the Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board during a special election on Saturday, Nov. 19.
The need for a special election was created when longtime tribal board member Grant Stafne resigned in a letter dated Aug. 29. Because Buckles and Kaci Wallette tied for 13th place with 449 votes each in last year’s election, a new election involving the two candidates was needed to determine Stafne’s replacement.
Buckles won the special election with 481 votes while Wallette received 234 votes.
He was sworn Monday, Nov. 21.
