Roosevelt County Aging Services wants to let seniors know about Medicare Helping Programs.
For help with your Medicare Part D costs there is Social Security Extra Help. The income limit for Extra Help is below $1,843 for a single person or $2,485 for a couple per month. The asset limit is $16,660 for a single person or $33,240 for a couple. Your home, vehicle and personal possessions do not count as assets. Assets include resources like checking or saving accounts, IRAs, stocks, bonds, or other properties. If you qualify for Extra Help, the program helps by lowering your premium, deductible and co-payments.
For help with your Medicare Part D premium only, there is Big Sky Rx. It is through the state and is funded through the tobacco tax. The yearly income limits for Big Sky Rx are $29,160 for a single person or $39,440 for a couple. Big Sky Rx does not count assets. They will pay up to $39.87 towards your Part D premium.
There are three levels for the Medicare Savings Programs or MSPs. They are known as QMB, SLMB, and QI. For the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) your income must be at or below $1,215 if single or $1,644 if married.
Your resources must be at or below $9,090 if single or $13,630 if married. QMB will cover your Medicare Part A hospital deductible, hospital co-pays, Part A monthly premium, Part B annual deductible, Part B monthly premium, and the Part B 20% co-insurance.
For Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) your income must be at or below $1,458 if single or $1,972 if married. Your resources must be at or below $9,090 if single or $13,630 if married. SLMB covers your Medicare Part B monthly premium.
For Qualifying Individual (QI) your income must be at or below $1,641 if single or $2,219 if married. Your resources must be at or below $9,090 if single or $13,630 if married. QI covers your Part B monthly premium.
