City Council Meets, Street Dance Set
The Wolf Point City Council held its regular council meeting Monday, June 19. Mayor Chris Dschaak was absent.
Aaron Kurokawa spoke during public comment, requesting that the council approve the closing of Main Street for the Wild Horse Stampede street dances Thursday and Friday nights, July 6-7, beginning at 9:30 p.m.
Brianna Vine from the Great Northern Development Corp. spoke to the council about urban renewal efforts in the city, including lot cleanup on Custer Street, which continues.
A task order was approved for asphalt pavement maintenance at the airport, which has already begun.
Election results are in for the Wolf Point Volunteer Fire Department: Chief is Clint Bushman. Assistant chief is Wayne Kegley. secretary/ treasurer is Justin Parker. Captains are David Schultes and Jarod Weyrauch. Training officer is Cam Burshia and safety officer is Dorrance Clark. If anyone is interested, the department could use more volunteers.
The proposed marijuana ordinance received a second reading. As written, it limits the amount of dispensaries to three. However, it states “Marijuana businesses granted a license before the enactment of this ordinance shall not be subject to this limit.” Any businesses already licensed and operating will essentially be grandfathered in.
Minutes were passed for the May meeting, as were the treasurer’s cash report and revenue and expense reports. The next council meeting is set for July 17 at 7 p.m.
