Ports Of Entry To Expand Hours
On Friday, July 7, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT02) released a statement on the announcement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection that it will begin a 120day temporary expansion of hours at two Ports of Entry in Montana.
“I’m pleased to hear that Customs and Border Protection has decided to temporarily increase their hours to manage Montana’s northern border,” Rosendale said. “The number of migrant crossings from Canada has increased substantially in recent years. I hope that CBP will go even further by making these hours permanent to ensure our northern border is completely secure.”
U.S. Customs and Border Patrol will temporarily expand operational hours at the Piegan Port of Entry from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and at the Raymond Port of Entry from 6 a.m. to midnight.
At the conclusion of this temporary expansion, CBP will conduct an analysis of traffic flow and other factors to consider similar expanded hours at these locations.
On June 7, Rosendale sent a letter to CBP demanding they return northern Ports of Entry to pre-pandemic hours.
