Culbertson School Purchases Passenger Van

The Culbertson School board approved the purchase of a passenger van during its meeting on Monday, July 17.

The vehicle is a 2020 El Dorado 15-passenger van with EcoBoost from Davey Coach. Cost is $95,858. The motion carried unanimously.

After negotiations were conducted, Dave Solem was re-hired as the school’s activities director. The motion included $1,000 annual increases for three years and two 4 percent increases in conjunction with the teacher salary scale. Solem has served as activities director for 12 years.

Trustees approved the bus monitor roster featuring Kim Knick, Joy Johnson, Christina Olson, Keri Hauenstein and Diane Hampton.

Approved for the guest teacher roster were Angela Miller, Sharon Schmitz, Sam Purvis, Jessica Kierstad, Mary Machart, Cassie Lucas, Amanda Sager, Nicole VandenBos and Hailey Carranza.

The activity bus roster approved included David Bengochea, John Fordyce, Keri Hauenstein, David Solem, Mike Machart, Wes Young, Jack Scotson, Duane Larsen and Nick Kallem.

Trustees reviewed board’s goals for last school year. Each trustee is requested to present five goals for the upcoming school year for the board to rank.

Trustees approved increasing the full paid breakfast and lunch prices by a quarter.

The board decided to adopt a teacher mentor program. The program would cost $1,000 for four mentors.

Carrie Fischer was hired as head cook. Also hired were Brittney Pirkle as cook’s helper and Paula Carlisle as school secretary.
