Commissioners To Sell Lots
By Bill Vander Weele
Roosevelt County Commissioners approved a motion to put out bids for three lots during their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 15.
The three lots are located in one area near First Avenue. The county took over ownership due to unpaid taxes in July 2007. “It’s a vacant lot, but has some cement left from an old basement,” commissioner Gordon Oelkers said.
After being advertised in the newspaper, the lots will be up for sale. The county has the right of refusal.
Also during the meeting, commissioners approved to sign an open cut mining permit application for the Handran pit. The property consists of 54 acres.
Commissioners approved purchasing 17,799 tons of 3/4 minus gravel stockpiled at the Handran pit for $4 per ton during a meeting in July.
“I think in the future it will be a good pit for us,” Oelkers said during last week’s meeting.
Commissioners approved purchasing a printer for the treasurer’s office. Cost is $4,211.10.
An annual pay raise for detention center employee Keelia Brock was approved.
