Beston Works To Achieve Success
Wolf Point High School senior Joli Beston says every day is a great day and she is looking forward to an excellent final year at the school.
Beston’s involvement includes National Honor Society, volleyball and wrestling. She might also compete in track this spring for the third year.
She likes being a member of the National Honor Society. “It gets me involved in my community,” she explained.
Beston has been a standout for the Wolves during her high school career. In the girls’ division, she placed second at 132 pounds as a freshman and sixth at 138 pounds as a junior.
She admits the sport was a struggle for her when she started in the seventh grade.
“I was so bad,” she laughed. She said her best season was her junior year.
Her experience includes wrestling in Iowa and in Florida during summer months.
“I learned a lot of freestyle things, which are important for college,” Beston said.
She admires her wrestling coaches and hopes to place in the top three this season.
Beston’s plan is to wrestle at the collegiate level. She hopes to attend at Dickinson State University and study nursing.
“I like helping people,” she explained.
Her senior volleyball season got off to a rocky start when she missed several weeks because of a sprained ankle injury. She is enjoying success now though.
One of her highlights of the fall was being crowned the school’s homecoming queen.
“I was definitely surprised,” she said. “I was honored too.”
She said her favorite classes are art, pottery and weight lifting.
“I’m not a good artist, but I like the class,” she laughed.
Beston’s favorite teacher is Vivian Schultz.
“She’s always really welcoming,” Beston said. “She’s very nice.”
