Wolf Point Knocks Off Glasgow At Tournament

 

Wolf Point knocked off Glasgow in a tight loser-out match at the Northern B divisional volleyball tournament on Friday, Nov. 3. The Wolves posted a 28-26, 24-26, 25-15, 23-25, 15-11 victory.

In the fifth and deciding set, the Wolves broke away from a 5-5 deadlock with four kills by Sierra Hamilton off sets by Kylie Rodenberg leading the way to a 9-6 advantage.

Another kill by Hamilton put the margin at 10-7, but Glasgow fought back to 11-9 on a kill by Tatum Nyquist. After a kill by Wolf Point’s Keeley Blount-Henderson, Glasgow cut the gap to 13-11 on kills by Nyquist.

The Wolves ended the match on a kill by Kashlyn Speak Thunder and a spike by Hamilton.

In the first set, the Wolves trailed by a 24-21 margin but tied the score at 24-24 and 2525.

With the score even at 2626, Wolf Point struck for the last two points on a serve by Azalei Ackerman and a kill by Speak Thunder to win the first set.

The Wolves led by as much as a 17-10 margin in the second set, but the Scotties responded to grab a 23-19 advantage.

Kills by Joli Beston and Hamilton cut the margin to 23-22.

The Wolves tied the score at 24-24, but Glasgow ended the set on a tip by Joely Chappell.

Kills by Blount-Henderson and Speak Thunder helped the Wolves gain a 17-12 advantage in the third set. After the Scotties cut the margin to 17-15, Hamilton connected for two kills.

The serving of Speak Thunder and net play of Hamilton down the stretch led the Wolves to a 25-15 victory.

Wolf Point tied the fourth set at 17-17 on a kill by Blount-Henderson and an ace by Ackerman, but Glasgow moved out to a 20-18 lead. A tip by Hamilton and a kill by Speak Thunder produced a 20-20 deadlock.

After the Scotties grabbed a 22-21 lead, a pair of kills by Hamilton put the Wolves into the lead.

Glasgow scored the last three points of the set on two net winners by Hayden Green and a tip by Gina Page.
