Bauer Looks To End Senior Year On Good Note
Wolf Point High School senior Juellz Bauer has tried several different sports during her time at the school, but basketball remains her favorite sport by far. Bauer has also competed in volleyball, cross country and track for the Wolves. She plans to return to the track program this spring after not participating last year.
“I like to run short distances,” Bauer explained.
She started playing basketball when she was only a fourth-grader.
“I wasn’t that good. I got better when I got into sixth or seventh grade,” Bauer said of her beginnings.
She noted she was on the District 3C seventh-grade championship team when she played in Frazer and then her Wolf Point team won a tournament title when she was in eighth grade.
Bauer feels her strong points are her defense and some of her shots including layups and three-pointers.
She took the spotlight at last year’s divisional challenge game when she hit two three-pointers to help the Wolves take the lead in their victory over Glasgow.
“I was open and I shot it,” Bauer remembers about the game. “I was jumping after I made the first three.”
Her goals for this basketball season include remaining a team captain and scoring more points than she did last year.
Her role model is her older brother, Kelby Bauer, who hit a three-pointer at the divisional challenge game to send the Wolves to the state tournament last season.
“He helped me love the sport of basketball and become better,” Juellz said.
Her favorite classes are cardio along with anatomy and physiology.
Bauer’s favorite teachers are Angela Swenson and Leslie Larson for lifting her spirits up.
She is pleased that her grades have been all A’s and B’s this year for the first time.
After high school, her plans include attending MSU Billings and studying automotive technology.
