Wolf Point Boys Lose Home Opening Game Against Scobey
Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball squad remained within reach for most of three quarters but lost to an explosive Scobey squad, 67-30, at home on Friday, Dec. 22.
The Wolves ended the first half on a strong note when 6-4 freshman Zandon Calder tallied four points in the last eight seconds of the half to close the margin to 27-14.
Calder then opened the second half with an inside shot. After Calder blocked a shot, Jack Kolstad fired in a three-pointer to pull the Wolves to 27-19.
A 16-footer by Peyton Summers kept the Wolves close at 36-23 with 42 seconds left in the quarter, but Scobey scored the last six points of the period for a 42-23 lead.
The Spartans then accounted for the first 19 points of the final period for a 61-23 margin. Summers hit a shot with 3:08 remaining to end the streak.
A highlight for the Wolves down the stretch was Charlie Page scoring five points.
Summers led the Wolves with 10 points.
Also scoring for Wolf Point were Kolstad with six, Calder with six, Cade Stafne with two and DJ Fischer with one.
Bram Handran scored 18 points for Scobey. Ty Leischner scored nine and Reese Tande added eight.
