Lustre Christian’s boys’ basketball squad accounted for 47 points in the first half en route to an 83-28 league victory at home on Friday, Jan. 5.

Using full-court pressure, the Lions gained a 10-0 lead with Johnslee Pierre scoring five of the points. Cayden Klatt hit a three-pointer and Cam Reddig scored off a rebound during the streak.

After the Coyotes used the scoring of Junior Stiffarm and Sebastian Best to trail by only a 16-6 margin, C. Klatt connected on another three-pointer. Free tosses by Pierre and Clay Reddig increased the margin to 22-7.

Five straight points by Prestyn Klatt put the margin at 20 points, but a three-pointer by Dodson’s Frank Sonny Cole ended the opening period at 27-10.

The Lions put together a 7-0 streak early in the second quarter on another three-pointer by C. Klatt, a basket by Terran Joseph off a long pass from C. Klatt and an inside shot by Pierre.

Dodson ended the streak on a three-pointer by Stiffarm, but the Lions responded with hoops by Byron Ewing and Joseph.

Ahead by a 38-17 margin, Lustre accounted for the last nine points of the half on six points by Pierre, a free throw by Ewing and a basket by Cam Reddig after a steal by Nathan Fast.

Ife Aniobi enjoyed a strong second half scoring for the Lions as Lustre gained a 6423 advantage in the third quarter.

Top scorers for the Lions were Pierre with 20 and C. Klatt with 12 points. Aniobi and Joseph each added nine points.

Also scoring were P. Klatt with eight, Cam Reddig with eight, Clay Reddig with four, Diek Olfert with four, Ewing with three, Joel Reddig with two and Brian Guedes with two.

Stiffarm led the Coyotes with 13 points. Lance KillEagle had six points.

Lustre Christian’s boys’ basketball team rolled to a 70-42 road victory over Circle on Saturday, Jan. 6.

The Lions jumped out to a 17-7 lead in the first quarter and increased the gap to 3622 at intermission.

Lustre then exploded for 22 points in the third quarter for a 58-28 lead.

Pierre accounted for 19 of Lustre’s points. Joseph and C. Klatt scored 11 points each.

Also scoring for the Lions were Ewing with nine, Cam Reddig with five, Clay Reddig with four, P. Klatt with three, Oifert with two, Aniobi with two, Fast with two and Guedes with two.

Top scorers for Circle were Connor Guldborg and Donavan Gibbs with nine points each. Owen Beery scored seven points.

The Lions will host North Country on Friday, Jan. 12, and travel to Scobey on Saturday, Jan. 13.
