Miranda Appointed New Clerk, Recorder
Roosevelt County commissioners approved the appointment of Tracy Miranda as the county’s new clerk and recorder during a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Miranda was recommended by retiring clerk and recorder Cheryl Hansen for the position. Hansen worked for the county for 42 years and nine months including 30 years as the clerk and recorder.
“Put a big thank you in the minutes for her service,” Commissioner Gary Macdonald said.
Commissioner Robert Toavs said taxpayers appreciated her years in the position.
Commissioner Gordon Oelkers thanked Hansen for preparing Miranda for the job, “I appreciate that you’ve trained someone to take your spot,” Oelkers said. “It’s really helpful.”
Also during the meeting, commissioners approved the purchase of a 2024 Expedition for $57,000.
Commissioners approved a change order of $80,300 for Motorola’s radio tower project. The amount was one of two options. The other option’s cost was $349,827.
Commissioners approved a series of annual resolutions to start the new calendar year. Those resolutions included: * Keeping the meal rate at $10 for breakfast, $12 for mid-day meal and $17 for evening meal. * A daily rate of credit for incarceration remains at $50.
* County office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The commissioner’ office is closed from noon to 1 p.m. when commissioners are not available.
* Public notices of meetings will be located inside the front door of the county building in Culbertson and the bulletin board by the door of the commissioners’ office. Commissioners accepted the resignation of library board member Perry Lilley.
New hires are Samantha Reed for the detention center and Jordan Clark for the sheriff’s office.
