Lady Wolves Fall Against Harlem Squad
Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball team improved its play in the second half but dropped a league game against Harlem by a 64-51 final on Saturday, Jan. 13.
After trailing by a 37-22 half-time margin, the Wolves were able to battle back to 39-33 with a 9-0 run midway into the third period on a three-point play by Azalei Ackerman, a three-point shot by Keeley Blount-Henderson and a three-pointer by Ackerman.
Free throws led the Wildcats to a 46-33 lead, but free tosses by Ackerman and Kylie Rodenberg pulled the Wolves to 46-39 at the end of the third quarter.
A baseline shot and free throw by Sierra Hamilton led Wolf Point early in the fourth quarter before Harlem ran off six straight points for a 50-42 advantage.
A three-pointer by Blount-Henderson got the Wolves as close as 60-51 during the final minute of play, Wolf Point’s top scorers were Ackerman with 16 and Hamilton with 13 points. Blount-Henderson tallied eight points.
Also scoring were Rodenberg with six, Kashlyn Speak Thunder with four, Karmyn Plain Feather with two, Ameliya Doney with one and Amaya Martinez with one.
Emma Billmayer accounted for 27 points to lead Harlem. Aaraya Mount scored 12 and Raelynne Briere added 11 points.
Harlem gained an 18-8 lead in the first quarter.
