Area Wrestlers Compete During Mixer In Poplar
Wolves Compete At Wyoming Tourney
The Wolf Point Wolves wrestled in Moorcroft, Wyo., during the weekend.
Wolf Point Coach Scott Vandall said Camden Doorneck and Tavian Bell wrestled well in the JV portion of the tournament. Bell placed third. “He lost his first match and battled back hard,” Vandall said.
Mike Bell and Jesse Reed wrestled in the varsity portion of the tournament. Reed lost a heartbreaker in the blood round (the match before placement). “Both losses he had this weekend were heartbreakers. He wrestled well,” Vandall noted.
Mike Bell placed fifth. “Mike is right where we need him. He is gaining a lot of ground on these kids. He’s turning the corner,” Vandall said.
For the girls, Kia Villovuz placed sixth and she keeps improving for the Wolves.
“Joli Beston wrestled OK,” Vandall said. “She is getting to where she needs to be. She is getting back to her old form.” The senior placed third at the tournament.
Jeina Reum earned second place. “Jeina is right where we need her and she’s getting more aggressive,” Vandall said.
The Wolves finish their regular season with action in Malta, Cascade and Simms this weekend.
