Wrestlers Prepare For Divisional
Wolf Point will host the Eastern B/C divisional wrestling meet on Friday and Saturday.
“It will be a great weekend of wrestling,” Wolf Point Coach Scott Vandall said. “I hope we get a lot of home town fans and support. We hope to see a lot of Wolves’ fans in attendance.”
The Wolves ended the regular season in Malta. “It’s been a long season, but we have reached the time that matters. We showed well this weekend,” Vandall said.
Joli Beston took home firstplace honors. “She has starting to gain some confidence. She had a good day,” Vandall said.
Jeina Reum wreslted well and took second place. “We held her out of the last match because it really didn’t benefit us and the girl was the next weight class up,” Vandall explained.
Kia villovuz took fifth. “She is improving each time out and she works hard, never complains,” Vandall said. “Joli and Jeina both got big wins for seeding at divisionals. The girls finished third as a team, 4.5 point out of trophy.”
Wolf Point’s boys also wrestled well. Xander Hoffman didn’t place. but he too is coming along well. Rieley Rees finished fourth. “We have had to split time with speech and drama with him. He has come along way this year. I’m very pleased,” Vandall said. “The matches he lost were close matches.”
Jesse Reed placed second. His finals match was against a wrestler from Shepherd. “He didn’t have a good match. We will correct it next time,” Vandall said.
Mike Bell took top honors at his weight class. “Mike had really came a long ways this year. I can’t wait to see how he finishes the year. I’m very happy with his matches,” Vandall said.
