Indians Fall Short In Malta
Poplar’s girls’ basketball squad put up a good fight but lost at Malta by a 64-58 final on Friday, Feb. 9.
The first-place M-ettes led by a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and by a 3228 half-time advantage.
The margin was 49-43 after three quarters of play.
Cammie Martell scored 16 points for the Indians. Mattie Falls Down and Rikki Belton added 12 points each.
Also scoring were Braelyn Nordwick with six, Kessie Erickson with six, Sadee Archambeault with two, EmmaRae Martell with two and Bailey Dupree with two points.
Leading Malta’s attack were Denvyr Tuss with 24, Neva Jacobsen with 16 and Elly Anderson with 12 points.
Malta’s boys rolled to an 84-42 victory over Poplar.
The Mustangs jumped out to an 18-4 lead in the first quarter and held a 38-16 halftime advantage.
Top scorers for Poplar were Delray Lilley with 14 and Geordy Medicine Cloud with nine points.
Leading Malta were Treyton Wilke with 26 and Bohdi Brenden with 16 points.
