Area Athletes Score During Junior High Meet In Sidney
Athletes from Wolf Point, Poplar, Frazer and Lustre Christian were among the competitors at a large junior high track meet held in Sidney on Saturday, April 6.
For Wolf Point’s girls, Mackenzie Jackson earned second place in the shot put at 26-8 and fifth in the discus at 63-1. Kaleigha Laverdure took sixth in the shot put with a mark of 23-4. Elan Peters placed fourth in the seventh- grade discus with a best of 58-4.
McKenzie Rodenberg placed fifth in the seventh- grade triple jump.
Mattie Azure finished fifth in the 400. Taking sixth were McKinlee Paulson in the 200-meter hurdles and Amirah Oleyte in the 200-meter dash.
Wolf Point’s boys placed in two relay races. The 400-meter relay of Jay Davis, Carlo Weiser, Dreyson Clark and Martavius Badhawk took fifth in 55.32. The 1600-meter relay team consisting of Davis, Carlo Weiser, Dreyson Clark and Badhawk finished fourth in 4:30.41.
Highlights for Poplar’s boys included Jayden Eder taking fourth in the 1600 in 5:47.47. Issac Irizarry was fourth in the 800 at 2:35.39 and sixth in the 1600.
Jayceon Spotted Bird placed fifth in the 800 and long jump.
In the girls’ seventh-grade division, Poplar’s Journey Gourneau finished first in the 1600 with a time of 6:17.99. Kellyn Azure took fifth in eighth-grade 1600. Mila Gramling was sixth in the seventh-grade 1600.
The seventh-grade 800-meter relay team of Liberty Boadle, Azure, Gourneau and Gramblin finished in third place at 2:23.49.
Frazer’s Bethany Hotomanie placed second in the seventh-grade shot put with a best of 25-6.
For Lustre’s boys, KJ Brown finished third in the 100 at 12.9 and third in the 200 at 27.47.
Lustre’s boys’ 800-meter relay team consisting of Joel Reddig, Kayden Charette, Brown and Chris Traeholt finished in third place at 1:57.50.
Charette placed fourth in the triple jump at 33-6.
Leading Lustre’s girls were Sidney Klatt with a second in the 1600 at 6:34.70 and a third in the 800 at 3:05.94.
Ashtyn Traeholt took fourth in the discus at 63-3 and fifth in the shot put at 25-4.
Lucia Benade placed fifth in the 200-meter hurdles at 38.18.
