School Presents Steered Straight Program

A 17-year proven program stressing the negative impacts of drugs will deliver a message to Wolf Point’s students and the community on Monday, April 15.

Steered Straight will offer assemblies on the truth about drugs and vaping to third through 12th grade students during the school day. An assembly for the community is scheduled for 6 p.m. that night. School assemblies wil include 3-6 grades at 10 a.m., 7-8 grade at noon and high school at 1:45 p.m.

According to information from the group, Steered Straight doesn’t explain drug prevention but teaches the reality of drugs and devises a prevention message that students can implement themselves within their school system.

“Vaping Me Crazy” is described as the number one requested school assembly in America and provides information about marijuana and vaping.

According to the Steered Straight website, the marijuana legalization has increased use in youth to all-time highs and directly links to adolescent use of e-cigarettes and vapes.

The Steered Straight website explains that the student assemblies will engage students, open their eyes and lead them to question their own misconceptions about marijuana and what it can do to the developing brain. Assemblies will directly challenge the students’ desensitized attitude toward vaping, e-juice and e-cigarettes.

The seminar for parents are in-depth and eye-opening to prevalent use of electronic cigarettes and vapes among high school and middle school students. The seminar gives the information on how THC from marijuana is commercially available for e-cigarettes, and the connection and marketing being done directly to their kids.
