Poplar Track Teams Compete At District Meet
Poplar scored 26 points in the boys’ division and 23 points in the girls’ division during the District 2B track meet held in Wolf Point on Saturday, May 11.
Adrien Matuck earned top honors in the long jump with a best of 20-8. The effort qualified him for the Class B state track meet.
“I just focused,” Matuck said of his performance. “And I kept my body moving before it.”
Raylando Red Eagle finished third in the 3200 at 12:11.92 and fourth in the 1600 at 5:19.04.
Walker Burshia earned fifth place in the shot put with a mark of 41-10.
Wilder Bearcub placed fifth in the 800 at 2:23.93.
Kessee Erickson led Poplar’s girls by taking third in the discus with a mark of 92-9 and placed fifth in the shot put with a best of 30-1.
Kacie Colgan finished fourth in the 1600 at 13:15.01 and fourth in the 1600 at 6:08.89.
Amelia Weeks earned fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 57.28 seconds.
Alara Parshall placed sixth with a time of 2:54.28. Alara Parshall took sixth in the 800 at 2:54.28.
Both of Poplar’s girls’ relay teams placed sixth. The 400-meter relay team of Daralyn BullChief, Jade Eder- Miller, Kadence Lavato and Paige GrayHawk had a time of 1:04.09. The 1600-meter relay team featuring Colgan, Parshall, GrayHawk and Weeks ran a time of 5:05.80.
