Wolves Take Third At District Track Meet
Wolf Point earned 67 points for third place in the boys’ standings at the District 2B track meet held in Wolf Point on Saturday, May 11.
Glasgow won the boys’ title with 212 points. Fairview took second with 116 points. Malta was fourth with 66 points.
The Lady Wolves placed fifth with 24 points. The top three teams were Glasgow with 219 points, Fairview with 116 and Malta with 107 points.
Peyton Summers highlighted the meet with victories in three distance races. He finished first in the 800 at 1:57.79, first in the 1600 at 4:33.12 and first in the 3200 in 9:34.50. His time in the 800 broke assistant coach Zander Ackerman’s school record. Summer now holds the school record in all three runs.
“Putting off the upset in the 800,” Summers said of his favorite part of the day.
He added that Ackerman hugged him after breaking the 800-meter run record.
“I had to run hard for every single one of the records. He set the bar high,” Summers said of Ackerman.
Maddox Reum finished second in the 100 at 11.74 seconds and second in the 200 at 23.76 seconds.
Tavian Bell cleared 8-6 for fourth place in the pole vault.
Taking sixth were Michael Bell with a mark of 41-1 in the shot put, Lennoxx Lilley with a best of 121-6 in the discus and Reilly Rees with a time of 13:13.20 in the 3200.
The 1600-meter relay team featuring Reum, Preston Swenson, Bell and Summers finished second with a time of 3:48.79.
The 400-meter relay team consisting of Reum, Swenson, Bell and Charles Page took third with a time of 49.5 seconds.
Page, a senior, didn’t compete in the shot put or discus at the meet in order to rest injuries. Page already has qualified for state in those events.
In the girls’ competition, Adalynn Smith earned third in the long jump with a best of 15-2. She finished fourth in the 400 at 1:06.91.
Marley Moran took fifth in the javelin with a mark of 84-8.
Harper Weeks finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles at 58.72 seconds and Kylie Rodenberg was sixth at 59.10 seconds.
Amaya Martinez placed sixth in the discus at 88-3.
The 400-meter relay team consisting of Rodenberg, Smith, H. Weeks and Navella Weeks finished fourth with a time of 55.78 seconds.
The 1600-meter relay team featuring Rodenberg, H. Weeks, N. Weeks and Smith took fourth at 4:50.46.
The divisional meet is scheduled for Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, in Glasgow.
