Two local volunteer organizations have recently been busy making Wolf Point a better place.

Wolf Point Lions Club members were active on Wednesday, June 12, improving the horseshoe pits at bridge park.

Lions Club leader Dave Fyfe said the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks built the horseshoe pits many years ago, and the Lions Club works on improving the facility every few years.

Fyfe expressed appreciation to Old Town Grill for donating the planks and screws for the project.

Lions Club member Tara Thomas is organizing a horseshoe league to be played at the bridge park. Play will start at 6 p.m. each Wednesday.

“It’s a fun and nice thing to do,” Thomas said.

The Wolf Point Elks Lodge #1764, meanwhile, has made financial contributions to the Wolf Point Food Pantry.

The Elks Lodge presented $3,000 for the food pantry through a national grants.

Several Elks members are consistent volunteers for the food pantry.

Gary Johnson reports that the food pantry serviced 256 families during distribution on Tuesday, June 11.

The food pantry’s next distribution date is June 25.
