Wolf Point, Culbertson Compete In Major Softball Action
Fast-pitch girls’ softball teams from Wolf Point and Culbertson battled in a league game played in Wolf Point on Tuesday, June 11.
Both teams had highlights during the contest, but the Culbertson Cubs emerged with a 15-8 victory.
Culbertson jumped out to a 5-0 lead during the first two and a half innings of action. Destiny Thompson belted a homer during the early action.
Wolf Point battled back with six runs in the bottom of the third inning. Having RBI hits for the Yellowjackets were Adalynn Smith and McKinlee Paulson.
The Cubs moved ahead 9-6 with four runs in the top of the fourth including a RBI double by Thompson. Jordan Hartsoch also knocked in a run.
The Cubs increased their advantage to 15-6 in the top of the fifth inning. Thompson accounted for a two-run home run in the frame. Adding RBI hits were Bella Petersen and Hartsoch.
Wolf Point’s Brenna Blount singled and came around to score early in the bottom of the fifth. The Yellowjackets scored another run when Paulson scored on a bases- loaded walk. In minor league softball action during the night, Wolf Point’s Bumble Bees “B” squad downed Culbertson by a 6-2 final.
The minor league Bumble Bees “A” team fell to Scobey by a 9-3 margin.
