Andrew Brien
Andrew Brien was born Feb. 6, 1936, in Belcourt, N.D., to Gregory and Mary (La Rocque) Brien. He passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, 2023, at home in Glendale, Calif.
Andy was raised in Wolf Point, Mont. He attended Marty Indian Catholic Boarding School and Wolf Point High School. He enjoyed playing football while in high school and still holds the record of 28 tackles in one game.
Andy joined the Navy in 1958 and was honorably discharged on Sept. 30, 1962. Andy stayed in California where he met the love of his life, Phyllis, whom he was married to for over 64 years. They had a son, Clyde, on June 1, 1965.
After 25 years of service with the Hostess Baking Company, he retired. Andy was a very kind and generous soul, with a great sense of humor and a jovial nature that brightened the day of everyone he met. He genuinely liked people and put them at ease immediately. He will be missed by many people whose lives he touched in his 87 years.
Andy is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Welzenbach); his son, Clyde; his brothers, Willard Brien, Patrick and Renita Brien; his sisters,
